Finding the most efficient system for each operation is challenging for some companies. There are a wide variety of choices in structures for order picking. These are just a few of the methods that companies can adapt to in order to make the order picking process more efficient in both cost and physical effort.
Tilted Pick Shelf
A tilted pick shelf allows an order picker to see the products more easily. With a flat shelf, the picker has to angle the body to see what they are picking. They reach down into the area to pick the proper product. A tilted pick shelf is angled, rather of the person's body. Clear visibility makes it easier to spot and select the product to put it with the rest of the order. When the shelf is angled, the product is more accessible because it is closer to the front, and the order picker does not have to reach as far to retrieve what is needed. This saves time and physical effort. A tilted shelf is also more efficient because more items can fit on the tilted shelf than a standard flat one.
Bed
Using a flat moving bed gravity conveyor can improve the efficiency of order picking where there are several different dimensions of product to choose from. The whole carton flow bed is level, which allows all of the cartons to be placed in any convenient location without having to change the settings on equipment. As a result, less time is spent setting up, and more is spent actually picking orders and getting them ready to ship. Guides are available to define product lanes as needed, but there is little assembly time involved. Use of the guides is dependent on how many different types of products are required for that operation. Some types of beds have smaller rollers close together. This means the cartons are less likely to get stuck or hung up on the way to their destination, because there is more surface contact.
Roller Rack
A roller rack is versatile in its setup configuration. It contains shelving storage that can be changed around in structure to fit the needs of that particular operation. It can accommodate picks from the ground level and can provide minimal storage above. Roller racks are sturdy, so unlike lightweight structures, they can handle a heavy load, making the system more efficient.

If the company can produce more efficiently with a relatively faster it will get a greater profit, and not forgetting the quality of products produced.
