The importance of soft skill

The working world believe that human resources are superior  who not only have the hard skills  but also expert in soft skills. Education world revealed that based on research at Harvard University in the United States turns a person's success is not determined solely by the knowledge and technical skills (hard skills), but more by the ability to manage ourselves and others (soft skills). This study reveals, success is determined only approximately 20% by the hard skills and the remaining 80% by soft skills.
It’s a reality that education in Indonesia better can be said even more oriented to learning hard skills alone. So how much should charge the soft skills in the education curriculum?, When considering that the real determinant of a person's success was more due to the soft elements skills.

The concept of soft skills is actually a development of the concept which is known by the term emotional intelligence (emotional intelligence). Soft skill itself defined as the ability beyond technical skills and academic, who prefer the intra and interpersonal skills.
Commonly, soft skills can be classified into two categories: intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. Intrapersonal skills include self-awareness  and self skills. While interpersonal skills include social awareness.
In the process of hiring employees, technical and academic competencies (hard skills) are more easily selected. These competencies can be directly viewed on a resume, work experience, grade and skill to master. As for soft skills is usually evaluated by psychologists through psychological and in-depth interviews. Interpretation of psychological test results, although not guaranteed to be 100% correct but it is very helpful in putting the company  the right person in the right place .
Almost all companies today require an appropriate combination of hard skills and soft skills, whatever the position of employees. Useless if the hard skills okay, but soft skills bad. This can be seen in job advertisements various companies that also requires the ability of soft skills, are like team work, communication skills, and interpersonal relationships, in job requirement. When hiring employees, companies tend to prefer candidates who have a better personality. because provide skills training is much easier than the formation of character.

It shows that hard skills is an important factor in the work, but the person's success in work is usually determined more by the soft skill good. Seasoned psychologist, David McClelland and even dare say that the main factor of success of the young executives of the world is self-confidence, adaptability, leadership and ability to influence others. None other that is not a soft skill.

Generally, the weakness of character in the field of soft skills inherent in a person. It takes effort to change it. However, soft skills is not something that is stagnant. This ability can be honed and improved in line with work experience. There are many ways of improving soft skills. One of them is through learning by doing. Besides soft skills can also be honed and improved by following the training and management seminars. Although, one powerful way to improve the soft skills is by interacting and doing activities with others.

Hard skills and soft skills are two important technical term that we must have if we want to be a success person or work in a company. Here, soft skill is more important than hard skill. As Seasoned psychologist, David McClelland have said that the main factor of success of the young executives of the world is self-confidence, adaptability, leadership and ability to influence others. None other that is not a soft skill. Then, as we know that hard skills is an important factor in the work, but the person's success in work is usually determined more by the soft skill good. So, it can be conclude that useless if the hard skills okay, but soft skills bad. But, in fact, most of persons only have hard skill. They are very clever about academic but for soft skill, I can not assure. They are still consider that hard skill is everything, with hard skill they can get it easily. In point of fact, they have soft skill, but it have not been seen, because have I said above. But, if they want to sharpen their soft skill. It can be done. This capability can be advanced in line with work experiences. Especially with learning by doing. Soft skill also be improved with training and management seminats. Although, one powerful way to improve the soft skill is by interacting and doing activities with others.
